Wordtracker (11/2001 - present, contract)

Consultant and senior developer for complete rearchitecture of this market leading search engine optimisation tool. OO analysis and development in PHP, Ruby, SQL and Perl on Linux/Apache platform. Also responsible for team organisation and introducing agile and other coding practices into the organisation.

I've pretty much worked on every part of the Wordtracker system as I started as the first developer. Now a technical team of 11 and growing.

Columnist for PHP|Architect (11/2004 - 3/2006, freelance)

Also author of a regular column on object oriented programming and design patterns. Technical reviewer for "PHP Design Patterns" by Jason Sweat.

Software development consultant (6/2003 - 9/2005, freelance)

Consultant specialising in small and medium web development projects. Areas of expertise include agile methodologies applied to small businesses, developer coaching and improving business/developer communication of requirements.

Mirrormill (8/2001 - 10/2001, contract)

Parable Telecoms (1/2001 - 6/2001, permanent)

Have given several presentations on software development in topics ranging from learning OO to using knowledge managment to understanding agile development. Able to give audience presentations confidently and with due preparation.

Over ten years experience of one to one teaching, and just under two years of classroom teaching as a qualified secondary school teacher.

Personal

Main qualities are honesty and flexibility. Hobbies include all aspects of computing and psychology and ex-holder of an international chess rating. Married June 2001 with two kids.
